Newscast, a new duo comprised of Hayden Boyd and Sal Almakky, release the first official single from their upcoming EP. "Undercover" walks the line between 80s new-wave nostalgic dance bop and sentimental ballad, with pulsating synths and lush melodies. The track explores a tumultuous restart to a relationship; feelings not only of hope, but also of fear, when one party wants to go public with the romance, but the other is leery of getting back into a relationship. With soaring choruses and earnest lo-fi synth grooves, Newscast deliver a dance-worthy and lush pop track, premiering on Substream Magazine.
Austin, TX duo Memory Keepers are streaming their new EP today at The 405 in advance of Friday’s release. They’ll be celebrating with a release show at Swan Dive Friday night and will make a couple SXSW appearances, including our 5th B-Day Bash on Friday, March 15 at Kitty Cohen’s! As The 405 suggests, “Turn up the amps and bask in the noise!”
Chattanooga trio Kerchief are back this spring with a new album dropping March 1 and today they have shared the trippy visuals for their song “Til the End” at New Noise Magazine, who say “a delicate breeze sweeps through a listener’s mind when listening to the song.” Check out the video below!
Last fall, Austin’s Shawn Jones revived his long time musical project, The Lovely Sparrows, and released the first new music from the band in nearly seven years. Focused on not letting The Lovely Sparrows disappear for that long again, Jones teamed up with longtime creative partner, Katie Green, to make the video for the title track, "Shake The Shadow." The song merges the past sound of the band with a more forward leaning direction; there are woodwinds and finger picking of classic indie folk, but the song incorporates synth swells to add a layer of mystical fog to the song.
