Evan Thomas Way & The Phasers share new track at OPB Music

Portland's Evan Thomas Way & The Phasers release a third single from their upcoming Long Distance LP. A mix of americana and jazz elements bathe the track in a golden light. A tune with soft textures, it soon opens up into a soaring melancholic lament with the help of key saxophone solo:

“'Gone' was one of the very last songs written and recorded for the album. I remember immediately thinking about how perfect it would be for my friend Ben Latimer to play sax on. He’s a genius musician, and I know he could translate the emotion of the song into an expressive solo, and sure enough – he went above and beyond my expectations. It’s a simple two chord song about lost love, but I think with the help of Ben’s playing and some choice Luna-inspired guitar work from Raymond, we were able to elevate it to something really special.”

The artist states that the song is her way of coping with chronic illness in a society that discounts the testament of women's bodies. She wrote the gorgeous track to "keep an account of who I am when I’m not in the worst of it and trust her to carry me through when I am." She goes on to say the song "is for anybody who’s had to commit that kind of radical trust, for whatever reason." Stream it below and preorder the album via Bandcamp.
