Daily Worker is the alter ego of poet and Cotton Mather guitarist Harold Whit Williams. This Muscle Shoals, Alabama native and longtime Austinite has racked up spins, shows, and accolades around the world as a member of that critically acclaimed indie rock institution, but now focuses on his solo endeavor. A prize-winning poet, author of six books, and music cataloger of UT Austin’s KUT Collection, Williams has lent what AllMusic describes as his “protean guitar” to the albums of many notable ATX singer-songwriters. His latest release, My Drug EP, swings further left into new wave, providing proletarian pop hope for the people.
