Nashville’s Okey Dokey just dropped a premiere of a new video for the track, “When They Get Older” featuring help from Rayland Baxter and Nick Bockrath (Cage The Elephant). Billboard has the premiere of the rose-colored glasses video and talked with Aaron and Johny, who make up the duo about collaborating with other fellow Nashville musicians and on their upcoming album, Tell All Your Friend, which will be out on March 29th of 2019.
Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, Kyle Field of Little Wings, and Kramies have teamed up for a three song lo-fi split that will see international release tomorrow, November 16. Danny Golden just released his sophomore LP, Old Love, and is about to embark on a small tour supporting that record. To celebrate the album/tour, he’s put out a new video for the track, “Old Mate,” which features actor John Noble of Lord of the Rings and Fringe amongst other things. The Lovely Sparrows, the longtime Austin area project of Shawn Jones, have made their return from a seven year hiatus from the pop music world to bring you this video for “A Light,” which just premiered on Billboard today! The video is done by Fantagraphics artist, Derek Van Gieson, and features in depth stylized animation of a character living in a post-apocalyptic world on a quest. Musically, “A Light” is soft indie rock, with frenetic riffs and a feeling of constant motion; kind of like a swirling undercurrent that pulls you in and holds you under. LA-based Lisa Papineau has announced her fourth solo record for release on February 15 and shared a video for the title track at Parade Magazine, who say, “Minimally produced with uber-present vocals underlying a contemplative and simple stop animation video, the song and video showcase Papineau’s lush and lovely vocals.” The video was created by longtime creative collaborator Betsy Kenyon and you can check it out below!
San Francisco’s Dire Wolves are celebrating the release of their new album, Paradisiacal Mind, tonight in their hometown, and they’ve shared with the world their whole trippy album in full ahead of its official Friday release over with the lovely folks at Treble. Treble had some nice words to say about the release:
“It’s a spacey, cosmic and spiritual set of psychedelic sounds, combining influences from krautrock, spiritual jazz, prog and more avant garde musical realms—at times sounding like Pharoah Sanders jamming with Ash Ra Tempel. It’s quite a trip, perhaps the sort of thing that’s necessary to give a spin during the chaos of a national election. It’s a weird and wonderful set of sounds from a band that’s always headed toward some new and unfamiliar realm”
